Juan Navarro

Hello! My name is Juan Navarro. I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. My parents and I immigrated to Oregon in 1995. I have lived in Marion County for most of my life, but now reside in Polk County for school. I came to the United States to get treated at Shriner’s Children's Hospital in Portland for a condition that prevented me to walk. I was able to walk without any support when I was fifteen years old thanks to Shriners. I am senior at Western Oregon University and graduating in June. This fall, I will be attending Oregon State University’s College Student Services Administration graduate program.

Ever since Measure 88 failed, I have had a chip on my shoulder to do help immigrate community. I have organized and helped create Unidos Club (undocumented and ally student club) at WOU. I also have presented at numerous conferences about immigration and education. I have worked with a group of five other students at WOU to make Monmouth a Sanctuary City. Yesterday, the Monmouth city council officially passed an inclusivity resolution to make Monmouth an inclusive city! My dream goals are to obtain a PhD and eventually become an university president. Meanwhile, I hope to someday run for a school board for Central School District and eventually run for mayor of some city (hopefully Monmouth).

Fun fact: I am a teddy bear in everyday life, but I am a grizzly bear when I get on that basketball court. I hustle and muscle my way to win.
We use Latinx instead of Latina/o to be more inclusive of those who do not associate with a specific gender.
Usamos Latinx en vez de Latina/o para ser más inclusivos de los que no asocian con un genero específico.

We Would Love to Have You Visit Soon!
