Joshua George-Lopez
My name is Joshua George-Lopez. My dad came from a poor Palestinian immigrant family and my mom came from a Latinx family that has lived in New México since before the border crossed them. I'm the first in my family to graduate from a traditional four year university and had no clue about the process until I was already in the thick of it. I am enthusiastic about the Latinx political movement for a couple of reasons. As the Latinx population continues to increase, I feel that it is only appropriate that those in charge of leading the people accurately demonstrate the demographics that they lead. As an educated person who has also suffered and lost part of their cultural identity through the current makeup of politics, I feel that it is my duty to help give a voice for those who are unable to do so.
Fun fact: I currently do research in clinical immunology and biochemistry, and am working to one day be a leader in increasing the demographics of underrepresented minorities in science and health care.
